Spring Studio Update

Hello there, friends. I hope you’ve been feeling the emerging energy of the spring season over the past two months. I’ve definitely been wanting to get outside more, although the cozy blankets on the couch still call my name in the cold evenings.

For us, this spring hasn’t so much been a slow unfurling as a rough yanking and uprooting into a new pot, or perhaps a replanting into the outside garden. This month my husband and I sold our house and moved across several states to settle in the front range of Colorado. It’s quite a change from the high desert of Arizona, but here I can flourish and grow.

As much as I adore Arizona and loved the 10 years we spent there, I feel like I’m quite literally coming out of the desert. There was a bit of my soul that felt like a barren land, and had for some time. As we settle in Northern Colorado I can feel new life beginning in me. A desire to emerge, connect, and thrive. Like a plant that has moved from a too small pot to an expansive garden box. So this spring has been extra meaningful for me as I see the themes of the season directly reflected in my life.

So what does that mean for the studio? Lots!

After the flurry of packing and moving, I’m finally able to unpack all my supplies and start creating again. Though hilariously, we’re having an unusually wet and rainy spring. And when you depend on the sun to make your art, that’s an issue! Yet I sort of like it. It’s a reminder that I’m not in charge, that God’s timing is always right, and that things will happen when they are meant to.

Even if I haven’t been able to make new pieces yet, I’m working my way through framing several of my originals from this past year to release for sale on my website later this year. I’m also working on getting print samples from several companies, so I can finally offer a variety of prints in my shop.

I’m also in the process of revamping my email list. Or, well, attempting to learn email marketing. I’d like to turn it into a quarterly (or even monthly) newsletter that offers subscribers some value, but with the move that’s been put on the back burner. So that’s a late spring goal that I’d like to make. And finally, I’m out exploring my new town and the incredible Rocky Mountains. Inspiration is flowing and I’m excited to start creating again!

I hope your spring has been a little less hectic than mine, but no less lovely.

Take care of yourselves,
